Saadia speaks is founded by changemaker and multi award winning young leader Saadia Abubaker. Her journey of youth leadership and social action led her to set up a social enterprise to empower, uplift and inspire Genz to create better opportunities for herself and to achieve her goals. Most importantly Saadia speaks strives to be an example of how you have the power to create your own narrative regardless of your background and previous experiences. Saadia moved to Swansea with her family from Sudan at the age of 2. She describes how growing up in a non-diverse environment presented a few challenges. From lack of representation to experiencing direct and non-direct racism and islamophobia. However, she argues that those experiences allowed her to develop the resilience she needed to succeed. While studying at college she facilitated sports sessions for BAME and Muslim girls and received training and support from the Youth Sport Trust to continue to develop her leadership skills. Covid-19 was a pivotal moment that highlighted the impact of inequality and it inspired Saadia to set up her platform Saadia speaks. It initially began as a podcast, and Saadia delivered online masterclasses and workshops for organisations such as digilearning and women after greatness. After seeing the impact and the positive response/ feedback from young people, Saadia improved the workshops to be hosted both online and offline and organised and delivered her own workshop events at the University and in cities across the UK.
With continued support from her university’s enterprise team and from charities such as Unltd, Saadia speaks is growing and expanding to deliver workshops in more schools, colleges and universities. She is also currently working on a guidebook that will teach young people how they can create their own unique opportunities and use the tools and resources available to them to achieve their goals.
Workshop facilitating let Saadia help you deliver a great workshop that will inspire your attendees and leave them with tools and tips to take action in their lives.
